These "cards" most traditionally were small envelopes with a separate card inside stating the formal names of the guests and the table # i.e., "Mr. and Mrs. John Doe Table Number 5". Place Cards hold the purpose of assigning a particular seat to your guest once he/she locates the table from the Escort Card. Many couples use the place cards to identify entrée selections to the service/catering staff in a discreet way, such as using different colored ribbon, inks or other embellishments. The place card wording should be limited to only the guests name, not the table number as this was already advised on the Escort Card. You may also consider using a personalized menu card as an alternative to the place card.
